FAQs
How much is delivery?
We only delivery cakes for 100 servings ore more. Delivery
to any area of the triangle is 50.00. We offer delivery to
outside areas for additional charges of 1.00 a mile.
How much notice do you need for a cake?
Wedding cakes 4-6 months. Busiest wedding months are May,
June and October and may require more time. Celebration
cakes, one week notice.
Can I get a list of references to call?
I am afraid I keep all the personal information on my
clients private. Please visit my testimonial page on the web
site if you want to hear from others. The majority of my
cake orders are from referrals from others, so I do firmly
believe my cake speaks for itself.
When do I pay for my cake?
Wedding cakes require a 100.00 deposit with full balance due
two weeks before the wedding. Sorry, we do not accept
payment at time of delivery. Celebration cakes require a 50%
deposit upon order. Cakes are not placed on our schedule
until the deposit is paid.
What methods of payment do you accept?
At this time we accept cash, Visa or MasterCard. We only
accept checks for wedding cake orders.
Do you do kitchen cakes? (Display
cake of 100 servings or more required)
Sheet cakes or “kitchen cakes” are available
with a wedding cake purchase of a regular tiered cake of 100
servings or more. They are an undecorated Buttercream
covered cake and are for cutting purposes only. They are
four layers like your wedding cake.
What is fondant? I have heard it tastes awful!
Fondant is a sweet sugar paste that can be rolled out and
used to cover a cake. It gives cakes a beautiful,
porcelain-like finish. There is some pretty bad tasting
fondant out there! Especially the craft store fondant that
has a very long shelf life. I use a European fondant that
has a marshmallow type taste, not a strong chemical or
vanilla taste. I can also flavor it to match your cake. I
also have rolled chocolate fondant and rolled white
chocolate.
I have a food allergy – can you make me a
gluten-free/dairy-free/nut-free cake?
All of the cakes are made from flour, eggs and butter. I can
make you a nut free cake, but please be aware that all of my
cakes are processed on the same equipment, and while they
are cleaned, cakes may still contain traces of allergens. We
do have smaller gluten free cakes available for tastings by
request.
What comes with my wedding cake?
All cakes come on a 1/2 inch cake drum. You can rent cupcake
stands, fountains and pillars from us. I often put rose
petals on the table to match your decor if other decorations
are not present. I can also provide a cutting guide if you
are having a relative cut the cake for you.
Do you have a price list?
All of our cakes are custom made and designed just for you.
All prices are based on the design. We do not charge extra
for different filings, or each tier being a different cake
flavor. We do not charge extra for “premium” icings or
fillings. We are very aware of budgets and will work with
you to make your cake affordable!
What is your cancelation policy?
If for any reason you need to postpone your wedding, please
contact Simply Cakes, LLC immediately. If you need to change
your date, we will do all we possibly can to place you in
the new date. If you need to cancel your order entirely
there are certain refund policies that we follow: If you
cancel 4 months before the wedding, we will refund any
additional money paid beyond the $100.00 non refundable
deposit. If you cancel 4 months-2 weeks before your wedding,
we will refund 50% of any additional money paid beyond the
$100.00 non refundable deposit. After 2 weeks before the
wedding, we cannot refund any money paid to Simply Cakes,
LLC. Simply Cakes does not issue credits for other cake
orders from cancellations. Celebration cakes require one
weeks notice to cancel to receive your deposit back. 48
hours notice is required for your order or full payment will
be due.
Do I have to pick a cake from your Gallery?
The Gallery is there to show you the past work we have done.
All of our cakes are custom made for you, and work with you
to design a cake of your own! Of course, if there is a cake
you love in the gallery, I would love to reproduce it for
you!
I want to match my colors: Can you do this?
We do all can to match any colors, dresses, themes,
invitations, etc. You will need to provide
swatches/photos/samples for us to get a truly accurate
representation. We will make every possible effort to match
your colors. Please keep in mind that inks and fabric colors
don’t always translate into sugar exactly!
How do I save the top tier of my wedding cake?
Frozen wedding cake isn’t really the best cake…as a
matter of fact, it is pretty nasty cake! It’s so much better
to keep the memory of how great your cake tasted on your
wedding day, and eat a FRESH cake on your anniversary. This
is why you will receive a free 6″ 1st anniversary cake
baked fresh for you a year later. If you will be leaving the
area, I do provide a box and instructions for freezing your
cake if you choose to do so.
Will my Anniversary Cake look like my wedding cake?
Unfortunately, we cannot match your wedding cake exactly for
your anniversary cake, especially if the cake had ribbon and
live flowers. Your anniversary cake is any flavor cake, with
Buttercream icing of any color, with swirls and several
royal icing flowers of your color choice.
We have cake stands, cupcake stands and fountains for rent.
These are on first come, first serve basis. Please check that we have them available for your date. All items require a $100 security deposit as well as a $25 non refundable rental fee. This fee will be added to your invoice. Please write a separate check (please date it the date of your wedding )or give a Credit Card number for $100 to cover your deposit. Please date the check the day of your wedding. This deposit will be returned to you if the item is retuned within five business days of your event. It is your responsibility to return this item to us.
Do you have fake cakes?
Simply Cakes is proud of the fact they use the freshest and
finest ingredients, producing a great tasting cake.
Styrofoam just doesn’t cut it for us, and feel it shouldn’t
cut it for you either. So no, we do not provide fake tiers
or cakes.
